The Buddy Ball was held for the first time in July 2004 when more than 200 people danced the night away at Jurys Hotel, Prince Street , Bristol .
The event was organised in memory of Peter Bradley, co-founder of the Grant Bradley Charitable Trust, and managing director of The PG Group who died in February 2004. The evening was also a tribute to Bristol ’s “Best Buddies” who were nominated for their care of a friend, relative or neighbour. Two Best Buddies – Geraldine McDonnell and Pauline Flew – were each presented with flowers and a cheque for £250 at the Buddy Ball.
This year, the evening starts at 7pm for 7.30pm with a champagne reception.
After a five-course meal there will be dancing to internationally renowned Beatles tribute band The Silver Beatles (pictured).
The ticket price of £75 includes a champagne reception, five course meal with vegetarian option, four bottles of wine (two red/two white) on each table and all entertainment.
Ian Walker, The PG Group’s managing director and a member of Toastmasters International, will host a fast-moving charity auction. Last year’s auction included a date with Irish singing superstar Daniel O’Donnell ( a patron of the ball), a holiday in America , a golf-break in Portugal , a champagne day out on a luxury cruiser and a VIP family trip to Cottle & Austen’s Circus.
We are on target to raise thousands of pounds for local cancer-related charities which include Bristol Cancer Care Centre (celebrating its silver jubilee this year); the Bristol Evening Post One in Four Cancer Campaign and Babe’s Big Appeal for a new children’s hospice.
