REST IN PEACE : Please pray for Petrina James who died last week and will be buried from St. Patrick’s. Her funeral arrangements are as follows. Petrinas body will be received into church tomorrow Monday at 5.30pm . Her Requiem Mass will be this Tuesday 9 th March at 9.30am followed by cremation at Bristol South at 11.00am . There will be a reception for everyone in the church following the funeral. Petrina worshiped at St Patrick’s for the last 20 years and lived in Dillon Court for the last 16 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister, reader, parish office volunteer, church cleaner, she ran the repository and contributed to all activities in parish life. Her presence will be sadly missed. We offer her daughter Jacinta our sympathy and prayers. May she rest in peace.

 

MARIE GRANT R.I.P: Since Marie Grant’s funeral two weeks ago people have still been sending donations in her memory to The Grant Bradley Charitable Trust for distribution to the poor. A further £1,350 has been received bringing the total to just over £5,000. The charities that will benefit include Bishop Declan Lang Charity, Bishop of Durban, HCPT Group 79,Don Bosco Orphanage in Mumbai, St Anthony Messenger. Thank you to everyone for their generosity. Several people have asked for copies of Father Gregory’s sermon at his mothers funeral. These are available in the narthex, please help yourself to copies and copies of the funeral brochure.

 

CONCERT IN THE CHURCH THIS SUNDAY 7 TH MARCH : At 3.00pm until 5.00pm The Chamber Recorder Orchestra of the South West are performing in St Patrick’s. This will be a wonderful professional concert with a wide range of recorder instrumentalists performing. Tickets are priced at £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for children and are available on the door.

 

TUESDAY EVENINGS IN LENT: 7.00pm Stations of The Cross – 7.30pm Mass or Eucharistic Service – 8.00pm Talk on the Faith for half an hour. You may come to any one, two or three parts of the above 1 ½ hour session.

 

MOTHERING SUNDAY: Next Sunday is Mothers Day and St Patrick’s Children’s Choir will lead the music at the 10.00am Mass.

 

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CLASSES: There will be a talk for parents of the First Holy Communion candidates in The Shore Gallery next Saturday 13 th March at 10.15am . The talk is important so please make every effort to attend. Class for the children will start at the usual time of 10.00am finishing at 11.15am and will be held in the church. PAPAL VISIT TO THE U.K 2010: The Holy Father has announced his forthcoming visit to the UK possibly sometime in September 2010. Sadly there is already opposition headed by the Secular Society of Great Britain to this visit. The Secular Society have an online petition which has already attracted over 20,000 signatures and yet a petition supporting the visit has less than 6,000 signatures. CAFOD COLLECTION: We added the 2 nd collection to the CAFOD Lent Fast Day envelopes and sent a cheque to CAFOD for £600.00. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

 

ST. PATRICK’S SCHOOL: 1) Congratulations to the parents and school children who raised £500 for CAFOD’S work in Haiti .

5. “The Mass of St. Patrick” St. Patrick’s Music commissioned David Ogden to write a Mass for the parish. This new Mass will be launched at a special Patronal Feast Day Mass at 7.30 pm . We are delighted that David Ogden will be in attendance to present the Mass to the parish. This special Mass will be followed by a supper in The Shore Gallery. Tickets are priced at £10.00 to include welcome drink, main course and dessert. Please sign the list in the church porch if you will be attending the supper.
