REST IN PEACE: (1): Please pray for Peter Begley who died last week. Peter was Head Teacher of St Patrick’s School for 25 years from 1970 – 1995. We pray for his wife April and their three children Derry , Catherine and Clare. All Peter’s funeral arrangements will take place in his family home town in Tuam in Co Galway, Ireland. There will be a Mass of thanksgiving hosted by St Patrick’s School on Friday 16 th March at 9.15am . May he rest in peace.

 

REST IN PEACE: (2): Please pray for Laura Nyhan a 24 year old mother who died unexpectedly on Monday. Laura is a former pupil of St. Patrick's School and was once a member of the music group. Laura’s funeral service will take place at South Bristol Crematorium this Friday 10 th February at 10.30am . We offer our prayers and sympathy to her toddler son Tonninio aged 2, her parents Julie and Shaun and her sister Emma. May she rest in peace.

ST PATRICK’S – A FAIR TRADE SCHOOL : This morning after Holy Communion during the 10.00am Mass some children from St Patrick’s school will tell us about Fair Trade and how they are promoting it.

 

BACON BUTTIES: This morning after the 10.00am Mass Bacon Butties will be on sale in the Brooks Hall priced at £1.00 each. All donations will go to Rachel Bradley’s Charity ‘Practical Action’. Leaflets about her charity are available in the Brooks Hall.

 

HALF TERM: St Patrick’s School break up for half term this Friday 10 th February for one week, they return back on Monday 20 th February. We wish all our staff and pupils an enjoyable break.

 

CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY 2 nd MARCH: This year for the first time ever the British Government is doing something extraordinary. They have told CAFOD that for every £1 donated on Family Fast Day the Government will give AN EXTRA POUND. The Government has also agreed to donate an extra pound for pound for all money raised at events prior to Family Fast Day and included in our donations on the day. ALL parish groups are asked to do something for CAFOD between now and 2 nd March. Donations / Coffee Mornings / Appeals / Sales etc etc . Please raise as much as you can and on Sunday 4 th March at 10.00am Mass all the groups will bring their donation in the offertory procession. Lets all help CAFOD to win at this DOUBLE YOUR MONEY.

 

MEETING FOR USHERS AND WELCOMERS: There will be a meeting for all Ushers and Welcomers on Saturday 25 th February at 12Noon. Meeting in the shore Gallery.

 

MUSIC IN ST. PATRICK ’S CHURCH: The Music at our week-end Masses is led by The Music Group and The Choir (Choral). New singers always welcome to join. The Music Group practices every Sunday evening from 7 – 8 pm and the choir every Thursday evening from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm . You don’t have to be a Maria Callas or José Carreras to join nor do you need to be able to read music. The Music Group generally leads the singing twice a month and the Choir once a month. Please think about joining this very fulfilling ministry in the parish.

 

DINING CLUB : The Dining Club has room for 2 new members. Membership is £10 per month, quarterly in advance, and the group dines out four times a year. This year there will be 2 Saturday evenings, one Thursday evening and one Sunday Lunch. In March, on Saturday 10 th the members will meet for dinner at Harvey Nichols in Cabot Circus, this will be the third time to visit this restaurant. If you would like to join please contact Amelia or Pat Uren in the parish office.

 

CURRY SUNDAYS: Our “Eat as much as you like” menu will continue during February. The new lower price of £5.95 for two courses has been very popular. Desserts and side salads are optional extras. Reservations can be made through the parish office or to Ramesh on 07586 939 350. Take Away is also available, just pop in to the Shore Gallery on Sunday morning and speak to Ramesh.

BAPTISM TALK B: Baptism talk B will take place after the 10.00am Mass next Sunday 12 th February. Parents must attend two talks A and B before having their child(ren) Baptised. Baptisms take place on the first and third Sunday of each month at 12 Noon or 3.00pm .

DIOCESAN CATECHISTS’ CERTIFICATE COURSE 2012: This course that flowed from ‘Called to be a People of Hope’ will this year be run in Cirencester. The course begins on the 7 th March and runs through until the 8 th November with the presentation of the course certificates. Applications need to be in by 29 th February. PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND : MONDAY 17 th – MONDAY 24 th SEPTEMBER 2012:

Saint Patrick’s Parish will be teaming up with St Anthony’s parish in Oxford (Father Aldo’s Parish) to visit The Holy Land this year. The cost is £1,300 per person. (Single supplement £250) and will include:

*Coach transport to and from Luton Airport

*Accommodation in en-suite rooms in 3* hotels in Galilee and Bethlehem

*Breakfast and dinner each day

*Full seven day guided tours of all Christian sites

Father Gregory and Father Aldo will both be accompanying this tour. £400 deposit required by 18 th February. Balance of £1,000 by 24 th May. To date 21 definite bookings have been received and next week we will start to advertise the pilgrimage in other parishes in the deanery.

CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE: A Celebration of Marriage takes place in our Cathedral next Saturday 11 February. Bishop Declan invites the people of our diocese to join him at Mass beginning at 12 noon as part of National Marriage Week (7-14 February). This celebration is for the whole diocesan community and especially our married couples.
